German Festival of Sport

Basingstoke and Deane has strong sporting links with German twin town Euskirchen. The Euskirchen / Basingstoke Festival of Sport takes place every year and is co-ordinated by Basingstoke Voluntary Sports Council.

The families of the relevant host town accomodate, entertain and feed visiting teams on an annual reciprocal basis which has continued over many years. Nearly 150 Sportsmen and Women of all ages participate across a wide range of sporting and social activities and the group includes Junior and Senior School teams. The weekend is a mix of culture, friendship, sport, and tourism and new sports who can reciprocate hosting are always welcome. The event is a great experience for any club or participant and has established countless longstanding friendships between the twin towns.
